Hinton Again, death has visited the ranks of Mathew’s Chapel members and carried away one of its best beloved. He has gathered to the heavenly kingdom one of the truest, noblest and most loyal women. Mrs. Hinton was a strong, sweet unassuming character. As a wife she was (word blurred) devoted and unselfish as a mother in a two-fold capacity, she was ever tender, thoughtful, loving and helpful. As a friend and neighbor she was all that these two words embody, faithful and kind, ministering to the comforts and needs of all those with whom she was thrown. Mrs. Hinton was Mary Slaughter, born April 5, 1841, and was reared in Harris county, and was married to Mr. Robert W. Hinton, Oct. 22, 1871. She united with the Methodist church at the age of twelve years and was ever a consistent observer of all its ordinances. She was the second wife of Mr. Hinton. Their children numbered five, three of which are dead. To his four children, she was a gentle and ever ministering spirit. Mrs. Hinton passed away on Sept. 14 and sleeps in the Mathews Chapel Churchyard. She is mourned by many friends and loved ones, but her sweet, patient life will be an inspiration to those who stay behind.
