One child, a bright little infant preceded her to that happy land, and no doubt extended beautiful beckoning hands in joyous welcome. She was happily married to Mr. R.M. Holmes over six years ago and came into our community a comparative stranger. When she left us, she could call everyone, old and young, her true friend. She was one of the many noble women who so strikingly illustrated the thirty- first chapter of Proverbs: “She looketh well to the ways of her household and eateth not the bread of idleness.” She was pre-eminently original and energetic, and whatsoever her hands found necessary to be done, she accomplished in her own original and thorough manner. In her charity, as in every other act of life, she was efficient and like Dorcas, “was full of good works and alms – deeds which she did.” While, therefore, she had more of the Martha than of the Mary in her natural disposition, yet all through her life she loved to sit at her Master’s feet until her religious experience was full, deep and definite. She is survived by her husband, three sisters, one brother and a host of relatives and friends who knew and loved her and in them her early life will be perpetuated for years to come. Her body rested, as was meet for the offices of the sanctuary in the beautiful new Methodist church at Woodland, and her chair in the choir was draped by loving hands. There the last tribute was paid to her excellent Christian character, some of her favorite songs were sung, and in hopes of a glorious reunion beyond the sunset bar, her precious form was laid to rest in the Owen Cemetery. “Beautiful toiler, thy work all done, Beautiful soul into glory gone, Beautiful life with its crown now won, God giveth the rest. Rest from all sorrows, and waking and fears. Rest from all possible sighing and tears, Rest through God’s endless and wonderful Years. At home with the blest.
