Kellum On the evening of January 8, 1911, mother feel asleep in Jesus. She had been ill since the 28th of November, but not, as we thought seriously, until about ten days before her death. Although, she seemed to realize from the very first of her illness that her time was near at hand. As she spoke so often of that great beyond, and of her loved ones that had gone on before her. Our home seems so gloomy without mother. Such a vacant place that can never be filled. But it is a great consolation to know that our loss is mother’s gain. On Tuesday morning before her departure Sunday, she called father and us children to her bedside and told us that she couldn’t be with us much longer and she wished to talk with us while she was conscious. Then she told us how she wished us to live to meet her. She said: “I hate to leave you all, but I have suffered so long and so much. If it’s God’s will, I am ready and willing to go.” Oh! she was such a devoted wife and mother whenever it came to the pleasure or comfort of her loved ones. She was every thoughtful and self-sacrificing for those about her. All that tender hands, loving hearts and skilled physicians could do was done to save her. But God saw proper to take her to his mansion of love, where there is no more care, sorrow or suffering. She leaves behind a husband, six children, two sisters and one brother, besides a host of other relatives and friends Her daughter, Susie B.
