Langford was born Oct. 28, 1877 united in marriage to Mr. E.R. Langford Dec. 1898 departed this life Aug. 25, 1911. Miss Willie is gone how can it be? Never to look on that bright congenial lovely face again; God cannot be so cruel some day the midst will clear away then His will will be revealed. There never was a more mutual couple, the wish of one the pleasure of the other a united devotion to each other. She was happily converted at an early age united with the Methodist church at Centerville, and has lived a life of beautiful devotion to the cause it represents until translated to that home beyond the skies prepared for the righteous. Her life was truly and eminently christian that life with faith developed into many excellences of character. Her rare moral virtues and lovely graces won the admiration, respect and tender regards from all who came in contact; who rise to bless her precious memory. Her unselfishness patience resignation her supreme faith in God was an inspiration to those who came in touch loyal devotion to friends scattering sunshine along the way forgetting self to the pleasure of others. As this beautiful life lived it so passed out falling on sleep to awake in the mansion not made with hands eternal in the heavens only the good abide such a grand life to die and in faith in God’s word to exclaim Oh! death where is thy victory and at the same sweet day the faithful friend and loved ones will verify God’s word by meeting her on the happy golden sore where love and happiness reign and parting will be no more. She leaves a devoted husband, a sorrowing sister, a bereaved saint mother and old living uncle. The last sad rites was performed by her faithful pastor Rev. G.C. Ingram, her body tenderly laid away in the cemetery at Centerville processioned by a large number of sorrowing friends may God in His infinite mercy restrain these sorrowing friends. The Talbotton New Era Thursday, September 7, 1911 Page Seven In Memoriam Willie Elliston Langford, daughter of William E. and Mary A. Elliston, was born October 28, 1877. She was happily married to Edmund R. Langford, Dec. 22, 1898 and on August 25, 1911 she left her earthly home to dwelt forevermore in the house of many mansions, prepared for her by God’s own loving care. Willie, while yet a little girl ten years of age, united with the Methodist Episcopal church; and so for the greater part of her life she was a most exemplary christian, and am sure I can truthfully say that she lived as pure and sinless life as any character I have ever known. Her heart ever bloomed with kindness and good will to everyone; she was loyal and true to all her friends, and devotedly unselfish and loving to those special ones who dwelt within the inner circle of her life. No mother ever had a daughter who could surpass her in the various excellencies that go to make a noble woman; no sister ever had a brighter example of high courage and patience, and tender thought for others; no husband ever had a wife in whom his heart could more safely trust. She never failed him in anything; her bright, hopeful spirit, unwavering faith, and dauntless courage were ever to him a well spring of deep gladness and constant inspiration to worthy endeavor. Her sweet nature could not abide gloom and despondency; she loved earth’s sunshine, and cultivated too, that rare glow the sunshine of the soul. Long years of suffering and much sorrow had not the power to rob her of this heavenly gift. Willie fully appreciated life’s privileges and opportunities; she took delight in living, but she went fearlessly and unshrinkingly when death held out to her his waiting hands. O! I am sure God understands that our poor hearts are crushed and desolate, and full of longing for the sound of her voice, the light of her smile, the touch of her tender hands – dear hands always so helpful and willing. We surely know that in the great home gathering of all God’s children, how quickly and joyously she will reach them out to each of those who now so sadly mourn her loss. May His merciful kindness be for our comfort, and teach us to look away and beyond to the things that live forever, for the gift of God is eternal life. My heart’s desire and most earnest prayer for each of us is that we may not fail to learn the sweet lesson which divine love would teach us in this beautiful life and triumphant death.
