McLendon, died suddenly at her home four miles from Box Springs on Wednesday p.m. August 3rd, 1910 at 7:30 o’clock after a brief illness of typhoid fever. Mrs. McLendon was forty years old, was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richard Calhoun, and was born and reared near Box Springs. Besides her husband she is survived by five children, Mrs. W.A. Blythe of Junction City, Mrs. Tom Meriwether of Pikeroad, Ala., Mr. C.R. McLendon of Columbus, Miss Annera McLendon of Boxspring, Mr. W.T. McLendon of Lakeland, Fla. Just as the twilight began to hide its mystic shadows around the old homestead, just then the dark robed messenger came to our midst and touched never so light a hand the drooping lids of our dear and warm friend. The removal of one whose life was so enterprising, honest and true, one that was so dear to family, kindred and friends. She was a member of the M.E. Church, South, which she joined when young and fulfilled her duty with fidelity. Then why should we mourn for her. Tis true we miss her sadly and many dear ones besides the family circle will miss her ever welcome visits, but they who knew her best must know that our loss is her eternal gain.
