W. H. ELLISON GENTLY LAID TO REST - Funeral Services Saturday in Talbot County - His Noble and Useful Life. The funeral services of Colonel William Holmes Ellison were solemnized at Sardis church, Talbot county Saturday morning at 11 o'clock, conducted by the Rev. W. G. Harrison internment being the the Ellison burial ground at that place. A large concourse of sorrowing friends and relatives were in attendance. Colonel Ellison was a true type of the "Old South," and with the passing away of this honest, upright Christian gentleman, there is removed from our midst one whose life was a loving benediction, whose high-minded purposes and noble aims were an inspiration to his fellow-man, and whose refined and gentle influence was felt by all who came in contact with him, and has left its impress upon the community in which he lived. His father was one of the pioneers of Methodism in Georgia and he had devoted his life to carrying on this work. He was a graduate of Emory College, in the class of 1849, with Bishop Key, Rev. A. M. Wynn and others. He was a Confederate veteran, and was with Lee in the army of northern Virginia and surrendered at Appomattox. His sister, Miss S. E. Ellison, and children, Mrs. E. R. Richards and Mrs. G. J. Peacock, and grandchildren, Mrs. Mitchell Lightfoot, of Wilson, N.C., Mr. Ellison Richards, of Atlanta, Mr. George Rowell, of Macon, and two great- grandchildren attended the funeral.
