Her parents, James and Jane Ellison, moved to Talbot county from Charleston, S.C., eighty years ago, and settled the place that was always an ideal Christian home during the whole life of "Miss Sallie," as she was familiarly and lovingly known. This refined, gentle daughter of the Old South has, for seventy-eight years, been a great blessing and inspiration to a very large circle of friends, many of whom live in distant parts of this and other states. She was one of the greatest Sunday School teachers that I have ever known, and several ministers of the Gospel remember with gratitude her instruction in the little Sardis Church School. She was a devoted and generous friend, a genuine and high-minded philanthropist, possessing the character of a quiet, but beautiful, radiant and consecrated Christian. She will long live in the lives of many who loved her. C.R. Jenkins.
