In Memoriam

“She hath done what she could and He hath called His beloved to rest.”  It is 
with profound grief that I offer this tribute of love in memory of my dear 
friend, Mrs. Anna M. Crafton, who not long ago since passed from earth to 
Heaven, there to bask in the light of God’s presence, and to be free from all 
pain and suffering.

She was always like a bright sunbeam to me, shedding light over the hearts of 
each inmate of her happy home circle.  I know full well that her home going 
leaves a void the world can never fill, only Jesus can stay and comfort the 
bereaved while they “Pass under the sod.”

I have known and loved Mrs. Crafton ever since a tiny child.  In fact she was 
one of my first teachers.  It was always a pleasure for me to sit and talk with 
her as her very presence indicated comfort and sunshine to any one.  She 
possessed all the traits of character which make womankind loved and honored.  
Her sufferings, though intense, were of short duration, but she bore them with 
patient resignation, realizing that when they were ended, she would sweetly 
rest in Heaven.  She was a faithful friend, devoted mother, sister and 
daughter, and a consecrated member of the church.

That bright, sunny day as I stood by her bier, these beautiful words of Mrs. 
Norton impressed me:

“That beautiful world of joy is bright, this is a world of woe,
Shall we grieve that her soul has taken flight
Because we dwell below?
We will bury her under the mossy soil.
And one long bright tress we’ll keep.
We have only given her back to God,
Then wherefore why do we weep?
