T.J. Davis Dead Capt. Thos. J. Davis died at the Soldiers Home in Atlanta last Thursday afternoon after an illness of only a few days. The immediate cause of his death was an attack of pneumonia which he contracted only a short while ago. His remains were brought to Talbotton and interred here Saturday afternoon the funeral service was conducted by Rev. Bascon Sentell of the Methodist church. Captain Davis was in Talbotton visiting friends and relatives during the Christmas holidays. He was looking unusually well and his death came as quite a shock. News had been received that he was sick with a cold but his illness was not thought to be of a serious nature. At the time of his death, Captain Davis was about eighty years of age. For over forty years he was a resident of Talbot County. He served with distinction throughout the Confederate war and was noted for his courage and valor. As a citizen he was honest, upright and fair in his dealing with his fellow man. He was held in highest esteem by all who knew him. Captain Davis was a brother of Mrs. Graham and an uncle of Messrs.
