Buried Sunday Afternoon After a lingering illness extending over a period of months, Mrs. Robert Wind breathed her last on Saturday morning. For a long time her condition has been such that her friends and relatives knew that she could not remain in this world for any length of time and all but gave up hope of her recovery. Up the to last moments of her life, Mrs. Wind was conscious and talked freely of her death which she knew was rapidly approaching. She was a member of the Methodist church from early childhood and a consecrated, Christian woman. While she has not been able to attend church for some years on account of her condition, her heart was ever there in the services. Mrs. Wind was the daughter of Dr. W.H. Philpot who died a few months ago and was one of the best-known physicians in the state. Besides her husband, Mr. Robert Wind, Mrs. Wind leaves four children, the youngest about five years of age. The children are: Mr. Phil Wind, Miss Hattie Mae Wind, Robert and Frank Wind. She also has three brothers, one of whom, Dr. Kyle Philpot of South Carolina, was present when she died. The others live in Arkansas and could not come. The funeral services were conducted from the home on College Street Sunday afternoon and many friends of the family were present. The remains were interred in Oak Hill Cemetery. The Talbotton New Era (exact date of issue unknown - sometime in 1905) In Memoriam Mrs. Hattie Philpot Wind was born in Talbotton, Talbot County, June 13th, 1859 and departed this life on the morning of January 28th, 1905. She was the daughter of our beloved Dr. W.H. Philpot. "Death loves a shining mark." Never was this poetical though more truly exemplified than in her death, and had the angel of death searched our town over it could not have pressed its icy hand upon a nobler brow, nor left more hearts to mourn, a more faithful friend, and though words fail to express our grief, yet we must pay some tribute to her memory and extend our sympathy to her dear husband and children. This assurance we do have, that the great Master, who sends these afflictions, will also give us grace to bear them. Time assuages all grief and heals all wounds, and the tears that now dim the eye may give place to smiles, but never can her image be effaced from our hearts, nor we whom knew her can ever forget her. Mrs. Wind was received into the Alice Beall Mathews Chapter, of the United Daughters of the Confederacy a few weeks after its organization, and she was always ready to lend a helping hand. Resolved 1st. That the Alice Beall Mathews Chapter has lost in our deceased daughter, a loyal member, a devoted and gentle companion, that we emulate her good example and embalm her virtues in our hearts. Resolved 2nd. That we tender the afflicted and grief stricken family our tenderest sympathy and sincere condolence. Resolved 3rd. That a copy of these resolutions be furnished the Talbotton New Era for publication and also a copy be recorded in the minutes of our Chapter.
