Alf had lived in Talbotton for years, conducting a barbershop. He was a Negro of unusually good common sense and was liked by all the white people of the community. He was quite prominent in the Republican party of the State, and especially in this section, but never tried to obtain offices for himself which he knew should be filled by white men. Several businessmen from Talbotton, including Mr. T.H. Persons and Mr. C.W. Kimbrough, went down to Geneva Saturday afternoon to be present at the funeral services and burial.
