On last Thursday afternoon, a Negro, named Tom Smith, was drowned in the 
Richland creek about a mile from Centerville.  He always had been subject to 
convulsions (fits), and while he was fishing it is supposed he had one of those 
spells there and fell into the creek and drowned.  His body was taken from the 
creek about two hours afterward and he was buried on Friday afternoon.
