McCrary, residing near this place, died last Wednesday evening of what was supposed to be a most violent attack of brain fever. He was taken suddenly and violently ill late in the afternoon of the day before, soon passed in to a state of unconsciousness, and was thrown into convulsions, which continued at intervals in quick succession until relieved by death. A negro woman living on the place, who was employed as a cook for the family, a few hours after the death of the above mentioned, was stricken down in a similar manner, and in the most intense agony died early Thursday morning.
