Gibson, Jr., on Wednesday last, the 6th inst. Mr. Gibson was an industrious, thorough- going and successful young farmer of this county, living about three and a half miles northeast of Talbotton. He was a son of Mr. Thomas N. Gibson of this place. Last Wednesday about noon a rider came into town in great haste in quest of a physician, and he stated that Mr. Tom Gibson, Jr. had been caught by the lever of a cane mill and mashed against the framework of the mill and it was feared that his neck was broken. Later in the day the first report was confirmed and it was learned that Tom Gibson was dead. Mr. Gibson was grinding cane and he discovered that the cylinders of the mill needed tightening. He stopped the mill and screwed up the bolts himself and ordered the driver to drive ahead. The mill started again and Mr. Gibson’s head was caught between the lever and one of the posts of the mill and his neck was broken. Death followed almost instantly. His death before he reached the prime of young manhood is all the more sad as he leaves a loving young wife and an infant daughter. It has been less then two years since he married Miss Bessie Lowe. Mr. Gibson was a member of the Methodist church This file has been created by a form at http://www.poppet.org/gafiles/ File size: 2.0 Kb
