Philpot died at her home in this city Monday morning at 11:30 o’clock after a lingering illness of heart and lung complications. She had been gradually sinking for several days and the cheerfulness and resignation with which she approached death prepared her family and friends for the worst. Mrs. Philpot was a good woman – kind, gentle and modest and in the opinion of the writer walked as neatly “in the footsteps of Christ” as it is possible for erring humanity to follow. Her afflicted husband, aged mother and grief stricken family deserves the profoundest sympathy of friends, for her death which was a sad loss to the community in which she lived is nothing less than a calamity to the bereaved family.
