Searcy died yesterday at the home of his son-in-law Mr. M.G. Parker near Prattsburg. Dr. Searcy has been one of the most prominent citizens of the county and has done much to make its reputation for morality and enlightenment. Dr. Searcy was a student at Collinsworth Institute here and a classmate of Bishop McTyer. Both labored faithfully in their different fields for the uplifting of humanity and both did much good. Dr. Searcy was 78 years of age. He leaves four children, Mrs. M.G. Parker, Robert Searcy, Prof. J.S. Searcy and Mrs. Mangham Mitchell. Dr. Searcy was for many years pastor of the Baptist church at this place and leaves many warm friends in Butler to mourn their loss.
