Mrs. Henry Persons called to rest

The whole town of Talbotton was shocked and saddened on Saturday morning by 
the report of the sudden death of Mrs. Henry Persons.  She had gone to bed 
Friday night in apparent good health, but before Saturday morning she had 
breathed her last.

Mrs. Persons before her marriage to Captain Henry Persons was a Miss Pou of 
the county.  They had lived long and happily together.  There was nothing more 
beautiful than their child like devotion to each other.  Their implicit trust 
and confidence in each other’s love.  To the friends of each throughout the 
state, the report will be a shock, and many hearts will be saddened in 
sympathy with the grand old man whose heart is made heavy and sorrowful on 
account of this great bereavement.

Besides her husband Capt. Persons, Mrs. Persons leaves the following children: 
Hon. A.P. Persons, Mr. T.H. Persons, Mrs. John M. Heath, and Miss Virginia 
Persons, Talbotton.  Mr. Joe Persons, Griffin, Ga. and Mrs. E.H. McGehee, 
Greenville, Ga.

The deceased was laid to rest in the Talbotton cemetery Sunday at noon, Bishop 
C.K. Nelson conducting the funeral services.  Rest in peace.

To the sorrowing relatives we can only ask that the God of our fathers give 
you strength and comfort to bear this great affliction.  You have the 
heartfelt sympathies of the New Era and all its readers.
