He died on Friday last at his “old home” in Talbot county near Prattsburg, in the 77th year of his age. For the last forty years he has lived where he died, and during this long period he has been active in good works. His charities were as broad as the world and his house was the home of the poor. In him the widow and the orphan had an unflinching friend and advocate. He never betrayed an enemy (if he ever had one) nor deceived a friend. He was just to all men. For 52 years he and his wife (who survives him) walked hand in hand. They had celebrated their golden wedding two years ago, surrounded by children and grandchildren and how he has gone hence to receive his crown of glory.
