The ruins of the old Charles Lee Smith, Sr. plantation home and the family cemetery nearby were located and photographed by Brent Hess, a biologist at the Big Lazer Creek WMA. The house and cemetery are now located in the Big Lazer Creek WMA. The house is near the Check Station. The Smith family appreciates his many hours in locating, documenting, and photographing the cemetery and homeplace.
