Baldwin, formerly of Talbot County, and Miss Gertrude Thornton of Salem, Ala., will be married at Salem Dec. 23rd. Mr. Baldwin is a traveling representative of the Columbus Ledger, and has multitudes of friends all over his territory and especially in his home county, who congratulate him on winning so fair and accomplished a bride as Miss Thornton. Long and happily may they live. The Talbotton New Era Thursday, December 24, 1903 Page 7 Thornton – Baldwin A wedding of great interest to Talbotton people occurred at Salem, Ala., Wednesday morning when Miss Gertrude Thornton and Mr. S.B. Baldwin were married. The groom, a former Talbottonan, is the popular traveling man of the Columbus Ledger while the bride is one of the most excellent ladies of our sister state. Her charming qualities of head and heart have made her innumerable friends and her husband’s friends welcome her to Talbotton. The happy pair arrive here this afternoon to spend the holidays.
