It was proven on April 1, 1839, therefore, Jordan Brooks died in Talbot County, Georgia in the early part of 1839. Talbot County State of Georgia I, Jordan Brooks, of said state and county being weak in body but of sound *disposing (crossed out) mind and memory in the name of God Amen, do make this my last will and testament. Item 1 Immediately after my death, I give to my son Francis Brooks one hundred dollars and to my daughter Sousan Two hundred dollars. To my daughter, Roseany, two hundred dollars; to my daughter Helen, Two hundred dollars, and to my son, Wesley two hundred dollars and that my three daughters, above named shall have each a bed and furniture. The said several sums as above stated is given to the children that the Lord has given me by my second wife in order to put them on an equal footing with the children I have had by my first wife. To wit my sons, Isham Robert Williamson Allen and Wyatt and my three daughters, Elizabeth Slatter, Martha Purkins & Lucy Wilkinson and the balance of my estate both real and personal I give to my beloved wife, Mary Brooks. During her natural lifetime or widowhood but if my said wife should ever marry again, she is in that case to be put upon an equal footing with one of my children and at the death of my said wife my will is that my estate both real and personal is equally divided between my children and at that I had by my first and second wives as above stated. I leave it discretionary to sell a part of my stock of horses, hogs as he may think proper for the benefit of my family.
