Georgia - Talbot County

In the name of God amen, I, William Drane of the county and
state aforesaid being of sound and disposing mind do make this
my last and testament in name and form as follows:

Item 1st - I give and bequeath to my beloved wife, Martha H.
Drane, in her own right and to dispose of as she may think
proper to do, my horse and buggy, all the household furniture
of every kind I may die possessed of and the sum of four
hundred dollars in the currency of the country should I not
leave on hand at my death money enough to pay her the four
hundred dollars it is my will that the first money paid out
after paying my burial and funeral expense in order to secure
her a comfortable support. I give and bequeath to her during
her natural life all the income or dividends that may arise
from 58 shares of the capital stock such as she may think
proper.

Item 2nd - All the assets I may leave over and above what I
have willed to my wife I wish it to be equally divided between
my four children, share and share alike to wit, Minerva S.
Mathews, William W. Drane, as trustee, Walter H. Drane and Mary
J. Mathews. 

Item 3rd - I want it particularly understood that the one
fourth part of my estate which my son, William and his wife
and'children will be entitled to I will it to him in trust for
the support of himself, wife and children and in no wise or
manner to be subject to any debt or debts he may now owe or
hereafter contract and I do hereby appoint him my said son,
William W. Drane, Trustee for his wife and children and do
authorize him to invest whatever money he may get from my es-
tate in any manner he may think must conducive to their
interest the income from which to be used for the support of
the family, education of the children, etc., and after the
death of him, my son William and his wife I want it equally
divided between his children, his wife to have an interest in
it during her natural life.

Item 4th - After the death of my beloved wife it is my will
that the 50 shares of the Capitol Stock I own in the South
Western Rail Road be equally divided between my four children
named in the Item Second and to my son, William as Trustee as
directed in Item Third and not to be subject to any debt of his
whatever»

Item 5th - I give and bequeath to my grandson, William Drane,
my double barrell shot gun and in the event it should be lost
or des-troyed and he never gets it, I will him 25 dollars
instead of it.

Item 6th - It is my will that my body be buried at my old
homestead in the square I reserved in the garden when I sold my
land to J. F. Mathews and I wish my executor to hold money
enough in his hands,

that after the death of both myself and wife he employ some
compe tent mason to build a substantial stone wall around our
graves including that of our son, Andrew Jackson, the wall to
be not less than 20 inches thick laid in lime mortar, about
three and a half feet high. All I desire to mark my grave or
designate the spot is a plain marble slab with the following
inscription: Dr, William Drane born in Columbia Co., Georgia^
Jany. 30, 1800, died         (blank) Have such on one over the
grave of my wife as she or the children may desire» also a
small marble slab to mark the grave of our son, Andrew Jackson.

Item 7th - I do hereby name and appoint Dr. Wm, P. Mathews,
Executor to this my last will and testament.

In witness whereof I have here unto set my hand and seal this
4th day of April 1868, signed, sealed and acknowledged in the
place of

I do solemly swear that this writing -contains the true last
will of the within named Wm. Drane described so far as I know
or believe and that I will well and truly execute the same in
accordance with the law of this state, so help me God.
