TALBOT COUNTY GA Estate of JAMES MASON - Slave division - 1861 File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by insights@ntr.net Susan Jinnett-Sack Georgia Talbot County By virtue of an order of the Honorable Superior Court of said county issued the 25th of September last to us directed authorizing and requiring us to make distribution of the negro property of the Estate of James Mason deceased, not already conveyed by Trust, among the distributees of said Estate. We proceeded on this day to the discharge of that duty and submit the following as the results. These being Eight distributees to said Estate to wit: MARTHA C. STANFORD, DORINDA C. FELTS, HENRIETTA M. MASON (now BREEDLOVE) ANTOINETTE V. COPELAND, represented by WM. M. ADAMS, CORDELIA A. HARRIS, MARILLA I. ADAMS, LEONIDAS B. MASON, represented by EDGAR BUTTS, Esq., and MARY E MASON represented by D.I. CASSETER(?) guardian, we divided the said property into Eight Shares numbered 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8 which being drawn for by lot in the usual way were assigned to the distributees as follows Share No 1 to ANTOINETTE V. COPELAND consisting of one negro man named FRED valued at $1100 and a girl named SAVANNAH valued at $450. Share No 2 to HENRIETTA M MASON consisting of a negro man named JOE valued at $1250 Share No 3 to MARILLA O ADAMS consisting of a negro man named RILEY valued at $1500 Share No 4 to LEONIDIES B MASON represented by E. BUTTS Esq consisting of a negro man named REUBEN valued at $1500 Share No 5 to MARTHA C STANFORD consisting of a negro girl named AMERICA valued at $1400 Share No 6 to DARINDA C MASON consisting of a negro woman named ELMIRA and two children named BURREL and REUBEN all valued at $1800 Share No 7 to MARY E MASON represented by D.I. CASSETER consisting of a negro man named FRIDAY valued at $500 and a girl named JUNE valued at $750 amounting in all to $1250 Share No 8 to C.A.W. HARRIS consisting of a girl named MARRION valued at $1000 SPECIFIC LEGACIES 1. To L.B. MASON a man named HENRY valued at $1500 2. To HENRIETTA M BREEDLOVE a boy named MITCHELL valued at $1300 3. To M.E. MASON a boy named RUFFIN valued at $1200. L.B. MASON pays to M.E.
