Will of John West 04 Jul 1835 Talbot County, GA JOHN WEST, State of Georgia, Talbot County In the name of God, Amen. I, John West of the State and County aforesaid, being aged and infirm in body, being of sound and disposing mind and memory knowing that is appointed unto all to die, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following, hereby revoking all former wills or testaments by me made heretofore, viz: First, I give to my beloved wife POLLY WEST fifty acres of land in the northwest corner of the Lot of Land I now live on No. sixteen in the first district of originally Troup now Talbot County with that one half of the present crop now growing one half of the stock of hogs and cattle with two horses with five negroes and all the house stuff and kitchen furniture and a sufficient farming utensils. All the above described property lands hers during her natural life time and at her death to be disposed of as follows to wit Second, I give and bequeath unto my son RUFUS WEST all that tract of land situate and lying in the first District of originally Troup now Talbot County number Sixteen the lot above described one half of the present crop growing one half of the stock of hogs and cattle together with three negroes towit one negro man named Jack, one woman named Lucy and one woman Anny. Third, I give and bequeath unto my daughter PENELOPE RODGERS two negroes towit one man Carter and one girl named Any. Fourth, I give and bequeath unto the children of son JOHN WEST, THOMAS and MARY WEST one hundred dollars each to be raised out of the sale of the perishable property loaned to my wife at her death to be sold and after deducting the said two hundred dollars the balance to be equally divided between my son RUFUS my daughter PENELOPE and my Grand Children THOMAS and MARY WEST above named share and share alike. Fifth, I do hereby nominate and appoint my son RUFUS WEST and GEORGE BUCHANAN my executors to this my last will and testament, signed sealed in the presence of us this 4 day of July 1835.
