War ancestor . He served in the 7th VA. Reg. and I am thinking that he may have served during the War of 1812 as well but I have not gotten those records yet. Thomas and his wife Nancy Bell were the first of my branch of Landrums to come to Georgia from Virginia, both were from Orange County and they settled in Oglethorpe County. Aside from obtaining Thomas' service and pension records and his estate records, I still need to get proof of their marriage as well and I am really hoping that they will not be a difficult to find as Frank and Sallie. Luckily, Thomas did leave a Will and he does mention his wife, Nancy, in it. Now skipping to Francis Marion Landrum, also known as Frank. In the 1860's and 1870's census it shows the Landrum household, including Sarah Elizabeth Davis-Landrum, or Sallie as she was called, along with their children and Franks father, Whitfield Landrum who lived with them. Frank is listed as widowed. When Sallie died one would have expected her to be buried in the same cemetery that Frank was later buried at: Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery. However, there is no marker for her so that leads me to believe that perhaps she was buried in the oldest Landrum family cemetery where Thomas and Nancy were buried. If that is the case then she will probably not be found as Thomas', Nancy's, William Norton's, and JL's graves are the only ones that are known. There are about 28 other graves in this cemetery that are unknown. It gets even more interesting with Sallie's parents who were William J. Davis and Angelina Lumpkin because the locations of their gravesites are unknown as well. This is also the case of Sallie's grandfather who was Rev. George Lumpkin, brother to GA. Gov. Wilson Lumpkin and the Hon. Joseph Henry Lumpkin. All of these relatives of mine, with the exception of Wilson and Joseph Henry, died in Oglethorpe County. They also lived there but no gravesites have been found for them. But that's another mystery that I have to solve---they just tied in with Sallie in that aspect. Frank was married before to Unice E. Durby on August 2, 1852. It says E.E. Durby in the marriage book for Oglethorpe but on the actual record that I have a copy of it says Unice. We figured that she died young as he was later married to Sallie on January 1, 1856. This date has been found listed in several books for Oglethorpe County, but here again, I have not found the document to back this up. After Sallie died, Frank continued to raise the children. It was said that he remarried to a Mary Frances Thompson but no record can be found for that marriage either. I have the death certificate for my G-G-grandfather, William Whitfield "Billy Whit" Landrum that shows his parents were Frank Landrum and Sallie Davis. Sandy L. Landrum-kelly
