Used with permission KING-JONES This burial site is on the south side of the White Plains Road across the road from Battery Church. There are at least two graves at this site, one of which is identified by Omer Reid, Fannie Shorter, Sallie Reid, Norman Shorter and others who live in the Battery Community as the grave of Frank M. Jones who died about 1927. This man came to Taliaferro County in 1917 and lived in the home of Jack Parker on the Margarets Grove Road south of Margarets Grove Church. It is believed by all the old residents of Battery Community that Frank M. Jones was an assumed name for the assassin of President McKinley. No other graves at this site have been identified. Mr. Omer Reid says that this is known as the King Place or the King cemetery but he doesn't know any of the Kings connected with the place.
