"LEGION'S LIST OF WHITE SOLDIERS. ________ Dear Mr. Trotter: I have read with great deal of interest your published list of Taliaferro county soldiers last week. This very interesting list has caused lots of comment among our people, many of whom are at a loss to understand the omission of many of our boys from that list. Upon inquiry I learn that your list was furnished by the Georgia Military Department in Atlanta, and for the reason that many of our Taliaferro county boys went to the war from other counties and states, their names do not appear. However, the American Legion has been constantly on the alert to form and preserve a correct list of Taliaferro County boys who served in the World War, and though some of these do not now live in the county, and many went to the war from other counties, we have considered them Taliaferro county boys on account of their family connections here and have included them in our list. Below I submit the American Legion list of Taliaferro County White Soldiers and Sailors in the World War, disregarding war time rank or branch of service: Atchison, Eddie B. Amos, George E. Allen, John Tom Bird, Frank Bird, Paul Bird, Gwin Brown, Lawrence H. Brown, Lloyd D. Bristow, Stacy D. Bowen, Norris Bowen, Waldo Blackwell, Freeman Brake, Garnett T. Brake, Gordon Ellis Burton, J.
