ARTHUR BEAZLEY IS DEAD Was Private Physician to late Alexander H. Stephens Crawfordville, GA December 26. - Dr. Arthur Guy Beazley passed away yesterday morning at his home in this place. He was one of the best known physicians, surgeons and specialists in this section. He was born at Spotsylvania, Va., in 1836. He moved to Georgia with his parents in 1858 afterwards graduating with first honors in medicine at the University of Virginia in 1860. He enlisted as a private in the confederate army, and was later made assistant surgeon, and served in this capacity throughout the remainder of the struggle. For over twenty years he was private physician and confidential friend of the late Alexander H. Stephens. Dr. Beazley possessed rare literary ability, and furnished many interesting papers on medicine and history. During the last years of his life, he made a specialty of hemorrhoids, and met with wonderful success. He was buried with Masonic honors. He is survived by a wife and three sons, the latter being Charles Howell Beazley, of Leesburg, Ga; John A. Beazley and Dr. Alexander Hamilton Beazley, of Crawfordville, Ga.. He also leaves a brother and sister, Dr. John Beazley, of Cartersville, Ga., and Miss Sallie Beazley, of Stilesboro, Ga. Submitted by great grandaughter Nancy H.
