MRS. KATE COMBS PASSES AWAY

   Funeral services were held on April 10th at 11 P.M. at the Carters Grove 
Baptist Church for Mrs. Kate Combs, age 90. Rev. R. B. Moody, pastor, 
officiated.
   Mrs. Combs was born in Wilkes County, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William 
Sisson. She was married to Thomas Franklin Combs, of Carters Grove and spent 
her life in this community until moving to Detroit, Mich, to live with her 
son, Sam Combs and family. She died in Detroit on April 6th after a few weeks 
illness during which she was tenderly cared for by her children and 
grandchildren.
   Mrs. Combs was endowed with the Christian graces of patience, kindness and 
love for her neighbor that endeared her to everyone who knew her and the 
lovely flowers and large attendance at her last rites were evidence of the 
love her friends and family had for her.
   She is survived by two sons, Sam of Detroit, Mich. and Louie of Sparta, and 
by two step-children, C. C. Combs of Carters Grove and Mrs. M. L. Johnson of 
Sparta and by 7 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and by a sister, Mrs. 
Mattie Howell, of West Palm Beach, Fla.
