David Lewis Edwards

   David Lewis Edwards, 78, of Martinez, died May 23, 2002, at his home.

   Mr. Edwards was a native of Taliaferro County and was the son of the late 
Dewitt T. Edwards and the late Willie Claude Pitts Edwards. He had lived in 
Martinez for the past 20 years. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II, 
serving as an aviation ordinanceman first class on the USS Cabot. He was of 
the Baptist faith and had retired as a wholesale food broker.

   Survivors include four sons, David T. Edwards, Norwood, Paul L. Edwards, 
Kenneth W. Edwards, and Brian L. Edwards, all of Crawfordville-Sandy Cross; 
two sisters, Irene Edwards, Atlanta, and Jane Taylor, East Point; and six 
grandchildren.

   Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Hospice, 2260 Wrightsboro 
Rd., Augusta 30904.

   Hopkins Funeral Home of Washington was in charge of arrangements.

David wed Ellie Pauline "Polly" LUNCEFORD on 28 June 1946 in Taliaferro Co.
