Advocate Democrat and family history
David Lewis Edwards was the eighth of and the youngest of four sons born to 
Dewitte Talmage and Willie Edwards.  David was born on February 25, 1924. He 
was a clerk at the Sandy Cross Baptist Church and an Aviation Ordnanceman, the 
thankless task job in first Class during WWII that served on the USS Cabot.  

David married on June 28, 1946 to Ellie Pauline Lunceford and began our family 
research many years ago, a lengthy hobby I also enjoy.  David was seen 
delivering milk in the Elberton area for 20+ years.  In later years he 
relocated to Martinez and worked as a food brokerage representative in the 
Northeastern part of Georgia.  “Way beyond being a “hobby genealogical 
researcher,” David loved fishing for bream and bass in the local streams and 
ponds, until his health became bad.”

Sadly, David passed on a day before my own birthday on May 23, 2002 and his 
cremated remains lie at the foot of his own father Dewitte T. Edwards buried 
within the walls of the Edwards plot located in the Crawfordville Baptist 
Church Cemetery.

Additional Comments:
DeWitte Talmage Edwards was the second child of and the second of five sons 
born to George Thomas and Martha Lyle Edwards, who had a total of seven 
children.  Dewitt served the office of Taliaferro County Sheriff until his 
death on March 8, 1933. (I have more history of this family if you have not 
yet read about them on this websight.)
