Tribute to J. W. Edward's Memory.

   God has seen fit to removed from our midst our beloved brother John William 
Edwards, who for many years has been a member of Sandy Cross Baptist Church. 
In his death the church has lost one of its most devoted and efficient members 
while we miss him here we are greatly consoled with the assurance that he was 
ready for the summons. He ceased from his labors here to enter upon that rest 
that belongs to the people of God. He died in Crawfordville, March 16, 1900.

   He leaves a wife and seven children, five girls and two boys, and a good 
mother to all of whom we trust God will administer their wants. His place is 
vacant and our hearts are made sad, yet we bow to the will of Him  who can do 
no wrong, trusting in Him for grace to bear whatever he may send believing 
that all is for our good and his glory. His sorrowing family are commended to 
trust the God whom the deceased so faithfully trusted.
   
God sends what is best for earthly mortals
   We rest in the palm of his hand
When trials press closely upon us,
   Which we cannot understand.
