Holden passed away Friday evening at 9 o'clock. She was surrounded by loving relatives and friends all during her illness and if love, tenderness and skill could have saved her she would have been here today. Mrs. Rhodes was one of the counties oldest and most highly respected residents. She had been a most devout member of the Baptist Church since early girl hood. She was charitable, generous and forgiving and possessed the impulses that make a true Christian. The soul of a devoted mother, an affectionate and steadfast friend has winged its flight to its Creator, leaving many sad and sympathetic souls to mourn its loss. The funeral occurred Saturday afternoon at the family burying ground at Mildrajon. Reverend CA Owens officiated. Additional Comments: Cornelia Mildred Gunn was the daughter of Jonathan Gunn and Elizabeth "Betsy" D.C. Wynne. She married John Rhodes, Jr. April 03, 1851 in Taliaferro County.
