The Democrat, Crawfordville, GA, March 14, 1884
Departed this life in Hawthorne, Florida on the night of the 2nd instant, 
Minnie Lee, daughter of Mr. John and Mrs. Mildred Rhodes. 

She was in her 18th year, lovely and fair and the pride of all whose pleasure 
it was to know her. She graduated at the Female College, at LaGrange, with the 
highest honor, and was at the time a favorite of her teachers and classmates. 
In her home circle she was much admired by all good people for her Christian 
grace, which adorned her youth and beauty. She visited Dr. Eve, of Augusta, 
about one year ago, and very soon after her return to her home her health 
began gradually to decline. She was conscious of the fact. At no time was she 
ever known to complain of any pain. She always expressed a cheerful 
resignation and ready obedience to the will of God. She yielded reluctantly to 
the solicitude of her doting parents and was carried to Florida, about the 
15th January, since which time her health gradually declined and on the night 
of the 2nd instant, without a struggle her spirit passed away in calm repose.

"When I left you with a kiss we united,
Though my sympathy and prayer for your health was concealed,
With fear and apprehension excited,
Hope for improvement yet unrevealed.

Happy is thy spirit with those of the blest,
Though thy lovely form is consigned to dust,
Sweet Minnie, thy spirit is at rest,
And safe in the arms of Him you trust."

Another obtituary found gives Minnie Lee Rhodes' birthdate = July 2nd, 1865.
