Stephenson, Jr., January 2002 Widow of Samuel Hart of Hancock County, Taliaferro County, Georgia, Will Book A., pages 215, 216, 22nd day of November 1830. To all to whom these presents shall come greetings, know ye that I, Susanna Hart, of Taliaferro County, State of Georgia going at this time under great body complaint but of sound mind and disposing memory and knowing it is appointed for men to die, to make, constitute and ordain this my last will and testament; revoking, disannulling, and disallowing all other wills, and testaments heretofore made whatsoever. First, I recommend my Soul to God who gave and my body to the Grave to be buried in a decent Christian manner at the discretion of my Executors hereinafter named, not doubting that I shall receive the general resurrection at the Last day. And as respects my worldly goods that it has pleased God to give me, I give, demise, and dispose of the same in the following manner: 1st. It is my will and just desire that all by just debts be paid. 2nd. That the whole of my estate, both real and personal, be divided equally between the following legatees, vis: that is John Hart, William Hart, Samuel Hart, Eli Hart, Mary Hart, Nathan Chapman’s children, Thomas Chapman’s children, Benjamin Chapman’s children, James Veazy’s children, the orphans of James Hart deceased late of Illinois. It is further my will and desire that of John Hart’s portion of the estate, that his son Samuel shall have $10.00, and of the distribution share that falls to Nathan Chapman’s children, that his son Samuel W. Chapman shall have $10.00 more than the rest of the children. 3rd. And lastly I nominate and appoint my beloved sons, Samuel Hart and Eli Hart my sole Executors of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal. This 22nd day of November 1830. Signed: Susannah Hart Witnesses: William Johnson Malcolm Johnson of Taliaferro County, Georgia Elizabeth Jones In open court appeared William Johnson and Malcom Johnson, two of the subscribing witnesses, and upon oath say that day they saw Susannah Hart sign, seal, and publish, and declare the writing to be and contain the last will and testament of the said Susannah Hart, and that at that time thereof she was of sound memory and mind and that she did it freely and without compulsion, and also that Elizabeth Jones signed her name to same as witness with themselves. Sword to and subscribed in open Court this 1st day of May 1837. Signed : William Johnson Malcom Johnson Recorded May 1, 1837 Quincea O’Neal, C.C.O. Received of the executors of Samuel Hart, deceased of Hancock County #851 - 81¼ shillings, it being a part of my wife Elizabeth’s legacy. Signed Nathan Chapman of Taliaferro County, (Formerly Oglethorpe County.) Eli Hart died in 1831. He was mentioned in the will of Susannah Hart and in his will he mentions his sister Elizabeth Chapman, wife of Nathan Chapman.
