He lived in Jefferson county. His son and grandson were also named Roger L.] ---------------------------- To the sheriff of Tattnall County, Greeting – [Comment: There was a William Sheppard in Screven county in the 1820 census.] William Stiles ex …. of William Sheppard vs Richard Smith & Henry Sapp Tenants in possession The defendants are hereby required personally or by attorney to be and appear at this next Superior Court to be holden in and for the county of Tattnall aforesaid on the sixth day of April next, then and there to answer the plaintiff in an action of trespass in ejictment .. As in default thereof the said court will proceed as to justice shall appertain. Witness the honorable John H. There was a John Montgomery in the 1820 census in Richmond county. The petition of William Stiles showeth that he is injured and hath sustained damage of Richard Smith of the county and state aforesaid. For that whereas an. William Shepperd, on this first day of January in this year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen, had deeded to your petitioner a certain tract of land lying and being in the county of Tattnall aforesaid, containing two hundred eighty seven and a half acres, originally granted to James Hudson on the fifth day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five at that time in the county of Washington but now in the county of Tattnall aforesaid and butting and bounding Southwardly by lands of Thomas Taylor, and on all other sides by vacant land at the time of survey and surveyed originally on this eighteenth day of June in the year of our [Comment: The word could be appurtenance – it’s very hard to read.] Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty five with houses, ….. and appertenances unto the said tract of land being belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold the said tract of land with the appertenances thereto belonging unto your petitioner his heirs and afsigns from the said first day of January in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and nineteen to the end and term of ten years from thence next following and fully to be completed and ended.
