This indenture made the twenty fifth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty nine between Samuel Brewton of the county of Tattnall and State of Georgia of the one part and Nathan J. Brewton of the county and state aforesaid of the other part Witensseth that the said Samuel Brewton for and in consideration of the sum of five hundred dollars in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of [illegible] these presents the receipt wherof is hereby acknowledged hath granted bargained sold and conveyed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Nathan J. Brewton his heirs and assigns his claim on half of two tracts of land lying and being in the county and state aforesaid being two surveys lying on Cedar Creek and Big Canoochee River one lot containing three hundred and fifty acres the other lot containing five hundred and twenty acres both adjoining known as the mill lots the three hundred and fifty acre lot was granted to Nathan Brewton Sr. on the 8th day of December 1818 reserving to my father Nathan Brewton the use and privilege of the above described lots of land for and during his natural life time to here and to hold said tracts or parcels of land unto him the said Nathan J. Brewton his heirs and assigns together with all and singular the rights numbers and appertenances thereof to the same in any manner belonging to them and their own proper use benefit and [illegible] forever in fee simple and the said Samuel Brewton for myself my heirs executors and administrators the said bargained premises unto the said Nathan J. Brewton his heirs executors administrators and assigns will warrant and forever defend the right and title thereof against themselves and against the claim of all and every other person whomsoever in witness whereof the said Samuel Brewton has hereunto set his hand and seal the day and year above written. Smith Clerk Additional Comments: This document was between brothers Samuel Brewton and Nathan J. Brewton. Its significance is that it documents that Samuel was the son of Nathan Brewton Sr. Nathan J. Brewton moved to Ware County, GA. The witness Simon J. Brewton was another brother.
