We learn that a feud had existed between them previously, and that while Mr. Estes was in his field, Watson was passing by with a gun when E. remarked that he had understood that he (W.) intended "to send him to hell before Saturday night". Watson said "yes" and thereupon shot him down. Watson fled and has not been heard of up to the present writing, Thursday in the forenoon. LaGrange Reporter. Columbus Enquirer – February 7, 1860 NOTE: Kimbrel Estes was killed on January 25, 1860 near his home in Troup County, Georgia. He was born in North Carolina about 1815. His parents have never been proven. He married Rebecca Caldwell on May 2, 1837. His name has appeared on documents as Kimbrough, Kimbro and Kimball.
