Roy J. Harris

Collins – Roy J. Harris, 77, of Collins died Friday in Memorial Medical Center
after a long illness.

A native of Pike County, he had lived most of his life in Tattnall County and
was a retired grocer and deacon of the Collins Baptist Church.

Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mae McGilda Harris of Collins; a daughter, Mrs. L.
S. Peterson of Miami Springs, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Mrs. Arthur Lee Meadows
of Lyons and Mrs. Phillip Whalen of Huntsville, Ala.; three sons, Jim C. Harris;
Roy Harris Jr. and Joe Harris, all of Collins; a sister, Mrs. Gladys Broyles of
Knoxville, Tenn., a brother, M. M. Harris of Collins, 14 grandchildren; and a
great-grandchild.

Funeral services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at Collins Baptist Church.

Hooks Mortuary of Metter is in charge.
