      MRS. JOHN H. ROBERTS DIES AFTER SEVERAL WEEKS ILLNESS
 The community was saddened Monday morning when the news reached here that Mrs. 
John H. Roberts had passed away at 11 o'clock Sunday night at a private 
hospital in Fitzgerald.
 Mrs. Roberts, who had been in ill health for some time, suffered a slight 
stroke a few weeks ago, but had improved so much she was able to ride to town 
and chat with her friends.
 She was the former Miss Maud Barrs, born June 10, 1895 in Tattnall County, Ga. 
and was married to Mr. John H. Roberts May 3, 1914. She was well known and well 
liked in the community and her pasing mourned by her many relatives and friends.
 Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at Valley Grove 
Church with Rev. J. W. McMillan conducting the rites. Interment occurred in the 
churchyard with Home Furniture Company of Fitzgerald in charge of arrangements.
 Pallbearers were: Messers Troy Tankersley, Jack Willis, Otto Griner, Gilbert 
Roberts, Eli Vickers, and S. A. Purvis.
 She is survived by her husband, three sons, Marvin, Pleaman, and Hayward; four 
grandchildren; three sisters, Mesdames R. E. Roberts, J. W. Roberts, Ocilla, 
and Lott Grantham, Miami; two brothers, J. H. Barrs, Ocilla and Coy Barrs Sr., 
Miami.
 Out of town friends and relatives attending the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. Coy 
Barrs Sr., Mr. and Mrs. Coy Barrs Jr., Mrs. Lott Grantham, Miami, Mrs. Walton 
Grantham, Fitzgerald, Mrs. G. L. McCree, Tifton, Mrs. Charlie Shenton, 
Valdosta, Mr. and Mrs. Pleaman Roberts, Mr. and Mrs. Lige Roberts, and Mrs. 
Howard Fletcher, Hinesville.

Additional Comments:
Maude was born to John K. Barrs and Lucinda "Lucy" Davos Barrs.
