It is unclear where he and Nancy Walker were married except to say in Georgia on Jan. 1, 1833. Nancy Walker was the daughter of Persons and Hannah Brantley Walker, she was born 7-14-1815. Elias and Nancy Walker Cody were the parents of the following children 1.Ellender (female) born 1834. On 25 Jun 1855 married Courcy? Cocy? (Cosey?), Rob. L. 2. Allen L born 1840.... I know he served Company F -27th Inf. Reg't. in the Civil War and later reportedly went to Texas. In May 1912, he returned to Taylor County from Texas with other families for the Confederate reunion. He married Johnson, Nancy 10 Feb 1863. He moved to Hunt County Texas after her death. He is listed in the 1900 Hunt County Texas census. I think he followed his brother Robert D and his wife Julia Dupreece Cody there. 3. George Thomas born 1852 (based on the 1860 Taylor County census) According to later census records he was born Feb 1840. This is my direct line and it has been hard to prove that he is truly the son of Elias and Nancy Walker Cody. G.T. Cody first married Mary Ann Childres and had 4 children. His second marriage was to Mollie Johnson daughter of Ambrose and Icy Frances Wadsworth Johnson and granddaughter of Luke and Abbi Barfield Johnson. Mollie is my great grandmother. I have used a letter from a descendant of James Monroe Cody (brother of G.T.) to help in proving that George Thomas was indeed a son of Elias. The letter states in part that the family knew that James Monroe and George Thomas were brothers and had married sisters (Mary Ann and Virginia Susan Childres). The question will always remain why did George Thomas change his age to make himself 12 years older starting on the 1900 census. He died 10-17- 1923 in Crawford County and is buried in Pleasant Hill also known as the old Beaver Dam cemetery. 4. Robert Dale born 7-3-1842 married Julia Dupreece 12-21- 1865 in Taylor County. Robert died 1-4-1889 in Rains County Texas. He and Julia had 8 children, including one set of twins that they named Remulus and Romulus. 5. Georgia born 5-24-1844 married Thomas Brewer son of Seph and Amanda Beall Brewer on 20 Dec 1865 - also moved to Texas 6. Mary born 3-4-1857 and died 7-10-1926 in Taylor County. Married Amos Byrd (Bird) on 11 Oct 1876. Amos died 01/30/1938 7. James Monroe born 7-14-1843 died 10-19-1935 in Upson County, married Virginia Susan Childres/Childers. 8. Ednia/Sedonia born 1850. Mrs. J.C. Young is Sedonia . The 1910 Hunt County Texas census shows John C. Young and wife Cedonia/Sedonia. Both are buried in Lone Oak Cemetery Record Hunt County Texas She died 1935 and her husband diedin 1941. Below is the sources for the above information 1860-70-80 Taylor County Census 1900-10-20 Crawford County census Personal correspondence with descendants of James Monroe Cody and Robert Dale Cody. 1920 Spaulding County census Court records from Upson/Taylor and Crawford counties. Young of Texas after attending the reunion (Confederate) are visiting their sister, Mrs. Amos Byrd [Molly], this being their first visit in thirty years or more. They were reared in Marion County but have long resided in Texas, where Mr. Cody is successfully engaged in farming. Mrs. John Walker Brewer (Mattie Johnson) came as well. ========Marriages Taylor County ===== Cody, Elenor R. 25 Jun 1855 married Courcy? (Cosey?), Rob. L.
