J.B. left Fairfield County, S.C.and came to Macon, Bibb Co.,GA. He stayed long enough to make enough money to go back to Fairfield Co.and bring his mother, Sarah Black Hamilton McCants , and her four sons by Jeremiah John McCants to Macon, GA. While in Bibb Co. he served on the first Grand Jury. (Source History of Macon and Bibb County, Ga.) After the Indians were moved to the other side of the Flint River they moved to Crawford, Co.,Ga. FAMILY April 25, 1824 James married Louisiana Whittington. Not very much is known about Lousiana, but it is thought she was born before 1808 and died before 1836. He died 11 Feb 1950 in a nursing home in Burke Co., GA and is buried in the Felton Cemetery in Montezuma, GA) 2)Mittie Hamilton 1867? - 1887? Hamilton (Feb 16, 1874 - Oct 9, 1910 Macon - Felton Cemetery Montezuma Macon Co) CHURCH The Primitive Baptist Church was a very important part of his life. In 1827 his mother, Sarah Black Hamilton McCants, joined Union Primitive Baptist Church, Crawford Co (now called Little Union Church located 8 miles S.E. of Roberta, Ga) In 1827, James joins the same church but by Nov 2, 1839 he had joined the Union Primitive Baptist Church (located where Union Methodist Church Taylor Co is today 2003) J.B. went to Henry Co. AL. in 1853 and preached there for awhile. While he was gone all the members at Union joined the Methodist Church and it became Union Methodist Church. When he returned he joined Bethel Primitive Baptist Church.. This church dissolved in 1856 and he and his family joined Bethel Primitive Baptist. He was elected as a Minister there in July 30 1860-Nov 4, 1860. April 13, 1861 he and several other families formed New Ariel Primitive Baptist (Taylor County). New Ariel was dissolved in 1883 and then he joined Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church (Taylor County) DEATH James B. Hamilton died May 13, 1887 at the home of his son, Andrew Jackson in Marshallville, Macon County. He is buried in the Marshallville Cemetery.
