Dickson). He was living in Brooks Co. in 1860 then moved to Taylor Co. after Melissa died. He had either three or four children (three known to have survived). It is possible that he lived in Florida at one time. I have not been able to find the marriage record for A.J. and Melissa Nelson. After she died, he needed help with the children and probably he came to Taylor Co. as he parents were in the area along with siblings, Louisa Parr for one. He had another sister, Nancy Caroline b. 1842, who married Edward Turner. There are two graves in Crowell - Baby Gideon and Baby Nancy Turner and they may be Caroline's children; however, one of A.J.'s daughters married Perry Franklin Turner. Therefore, I don't know whose children they were. Other siblings were B.F. b. 1831, George W. b. 1834, Mary F. 1840, J.M. b. 1847, John W. 1848, William Jasper b. 1850, and Thomas N. b. 1852. Gideon Kirksey was born in 1801 in SC and married Nancy Kirksey in Butts Co. in 1830. She attended Turners Chapel at one time. Nancy was born in 1812. Her parents were Elisha Smith and Patience Harris Kirksey. Nancy's sibling were West Harris, Elisha Franklin, Harriet Adaline, Andrew Jackson, and Jane Margaret. They were from NC. Nancy also had a brother named Andrew Jackson Kirksey. Additional info: Larry Whittington Larry@whittingtonassociates.com Carrie L. Cleveland was my grandmother's sister.
