We welcome some actual proof! Josiah Layfield, Revolutionary Soldier, was one of the earliest residences to the area which came to be Taylor County. According to Christine Martin's site, he was born in 1758 in Somerset County, Maryland. Hettie Cauthern born 1785 poss N.C., married Josiah bef. 1810 in Georgia, and died in 1855 in Tampa, Hillsborough, Florida. However, one of his Grandsons who was a school teacher in Richland, GA for 18 years wrote in a letter all of Josiah's children and my Great Great Grandfather had them listed in his Bible and George was never mentioned as a son but as a nephew.
