My great-grandfather, Joseph Robinson, came to Hamilton, Georgia about 1830 from North Carolina. He had twelve children, eight boys and four girls, among them was Jasper Davis Robinson, my grandfather. Jasper Robinson served as a lieutenant in the War Between the States, 1861- 1865. After returning from the war he served two terms as Sheriff of Harris County. In 1876 Jasper D. Robinson married Susan Irvin, daughter of Josiah Irvin, who came to Harris from Wilkes County. He served two years as tax-collector of Harris County. Mr. and Mrs. J.D. Robinson had six children, among them was my mother, Mary Robinson. On my mother's side I am distantly related to Joseph E. Robinson, who ran for Vice President of the United States against Curtis in 1928. He is now U.S. Senator from Arkansas. Now on my paternal side. My grandfather James Sanders Lunsford moved to Webster from Monroe, Georgia. James S. Lunsford married Molly Fletcher in 1877. On my father's side I am related to Senator Fletcher of Florida. Mr. and Mrs. J.S. Lunsford had seven children, six boys and one girl. Two boys and the girl died at a very early age. Grandfather died of thyphoid fever at the age of 38 leaving a widow and four boys, the youngest was only a few years old. These boys worked and the three youngest sent the elder J.J. Lunsford to Georgia Medical College. He has been President of the Third District Medical Association. The second boy, J.L. Lunsford did not go to college but studied telegraphy and is now trainmaster of the Southern Railroad, Knoxville Division, Knoxville, Tennessee. The brothers helped G.S. Lunsford go through Medical College at Augusta. He practiced medicine for several years and then went into the health work. He has been master of the Third Congressional District Masonic Convention, and now holds a Grand Office in the Grand Lodge of Georgia, and in seven more years he will be Grand Master. The brothers continued their work by helping each other, and sent the younger, J.R. Lunsford to Mercer Law School. He was admitted to the bar in 1909. He served in the Georgia Senate in 1919-20. He was County Clerk and attorney for twelve years. He was Worshipful Master of the Fourth District Masonic Convention. He married Mary Robinson in 1913.
