TAYLOR COUNTY Cemetery - McCullers Grave Location: The General John B. Gordon (CSA), farm is located south of Georgia Highway 96 a few miles east of Reynolds. There is a sign about the Gen. John B. Gordon Farm on Ga 96 pointing down road to the south. Going east on Ga 96 you would make a right turn onto the road. The sign and the road is nearer the Flint River than it is Reynolds. McCullers, Burwell Feb 12, 1832 - April 16, 1862 Prvt Co. F 27th Regiment - CSA (possibly the overseer for the Gordon Plantation) (husband of Kesiah M McCullers) (possibly son of Charles McCullers) The big magnolia tree is on the line between LL 270 owned by John B. Gordon & LL 277 T.B. McKeller. Burwell's marker is under the tree, but the story is that he is not buried right there, but somewhere in that field. The marker was moved so they could plow over it. There is supposed to be a cemetery in that field. It looks to me like Burwell is related to John D. McKeller and that he was buried on what was their land. He may have worked for JBG but I don't think that is why he is buried there. 1860 Taylor County Census McCuller, Burwell 27 overseer Kisiah M 27 f wife Susan A 8 William T. 6 (Charles born 1862) Sybil Willingham ======================== USGENWEB NOTICE: In keeping with our policy of providing free information on the Internet, data may be freely used by non-commercial entities, as long as this message remains on all copied material.
