Averett Admin of Drury Averett Deed from Henry J. Averett Admin &c to Holbrook & Scandrett to Lot No 129 15th Dist. This indenture made this the Third day of January Eighteen Hundred and Seventy One between Henry J. Averett duly constituted Administrator of the Estate of Drury Averett dec'd of the one part and Holbrook & Scandrett of the same place of the other part witnesseth that whereas by virtue of and Order granted by the Ordinary of said County (previous Notice of Application have been given in the Columbus Enquirer a paper published in Columbus Ga according to Law in such cases made and provided on the First Monday in November 1870 to said Henry Averett Administrator as aforesaid to sell the Lands belonging to the Estate of Drury Averett deceased situate lying and being in the county aforesaid known as Lot No 129 in the 15th Dist. After said Lot of land was duly advertised in conformity to Law the same was put up and exposed to sale to the highest bidder at the Courthouse door in Butler said County within the legal hours of sale on the First Tuesday in January 1871 by said Henry J. Averett Administrator as aforesaid whereas said Lot was knocked off to Henry Holbrooks and Robert Scandrett merchants and partners during business in the town of butler said county under the firm name and style of Holbrook & Scandrett at the price or sum of Four Hundred and Twenty Five Dollars. Now for and in consideration of the sumof Four Hundred and Twenty Five Dollars to him the said Administrator in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged the said Henry J. Averett Administrator as a foresaid hath granted bargained and sold and conveyed and by these presents doth grant bargain sell and convey unto the said Holbrro & Scandrett their heirs and assigns respectively all that tract or parcel of land known as Lot No 129 in the 15th Dist said county [Except the Saw Timber] of originally Muscogee now Taylor County containing Two Hundred Two and One Half acres more or less with all the rights, and appurtenances thereto attached (with the exception of the Saw Timber) is as full & complete manner as said Drury Averett held the same in his lifetime. In witness whereof the said Henry J. Averett Administrator as aforesaid hath hereto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written.
