All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm This file was contributed for use in the USGenWeb Archives by: Carla Miles grmiles1@bellsouth.net Table of Contents page: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/taylor.htm Georgia Table of Contents: http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm D/99 State of Georgia Taylor County Pursuant to the last will and testament of John Forshee of said county deceased after public notice made in the Columbus Enquirer newspaper published in the town of Columbus on the first Tuesday in December being the fourth day of said month in the year 1866, I, Smith Turner, duly constituted, Executor of the last will and testament of the said John Forshee, deceased, did put up and expose to sale to the highest bidder at Butler in said county between the legal hours of sale for ready money lot of land number 165 being the east half of said lot and 60 acres of 156, the center sixty acres of said number in the third (3rd) district agreeable to the original survey when James Thompson of said county being the highest and best bidder. Said lot was knocked off to him at the price of fifteen hundred and fifty dollars now therefor this indenture made and entered into this 18th day of December 1866 between the said Smith Turner, Exec, as aforesaid of the one part and the said James Thompson of the other part. Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of fiteen hundred and fifty dollars cash in hand paid at and before the sealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged, the said Smith Turner, Executor as aforesaid hath granted, bargained sold and conveyed and by these present doth grant bargain sell and convey so far as the office executor authorize him unto the said James Thompson his heirs and assigns all that lot of land situated lying and being in the third district of Taylor known and distinguished in the plan of said district by No 165, being the east half of said number and sixty acres of lot number 156 being the center sixty acres the half of said lot being one hundred and sixty acres more or less of said numbers of land with all the rights members and appurtenances to said lots of land in any wise appertaining or belonging to him and to hold said lots of land unto him the said James Thompson, his heirs and assignees in the same manner possessed held by said John Forshee deceased in testimony whereof the said Smith Turner executor as aforesaid hath hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal this day year above written.
