Adams of said State and County, hereby applies for the pension provided by Act of 1910, to Confederate Soldiers, and submits his sworn statement, with his testimony to make out the same, and after being duly sworn true answers to make to the questions propounded, answers as follows, to wit: 1. What is your name and where do you reside? Taylor County, Ga., Reynolds Post Office 2. How long and since when have you been a continuous resident of this State? 69 years, all my life 3. Did you enlist in the Army of the Confederate States or of the Organized Militia of this State from 1861 to 1865? Organized Militia of this State 4. When and where, and in what Company and Regiment did you enlist? 1864, Co K, Browns Militia 5. How long did you remain in the actual Military Service with said Company and Regiment? (Give date of discharge) April 1865 6. When and where was your Company and Regiment surrendered or discharged from Service? Macon, Ga 7. Were you actually present with your Command when it was surrendered or discharged? Yes 8 a. Where was your Command when you left it? At Macon, Disbanded there b. When did you leave the Command? At close of War c. For what cause did you leave? Discharged d. By whose authority did you leave? Payrolling Officer e. For how long was your leave granted? In what way? Was Honorably Discharged at Close of War f. Were you captured during the war? No 9. What property of every description was owned, in the use, possession and control of yourself and wife, and its cash value on the 4 Nov. 1908? (Make list by items and value) 400 acres of sandy land valued at $600.00 by Equalizers 10. What property of any kind have you or your wife disposed of and for what purpose since 4 Nov. 1908? To whom and for what price? None 11. What property of any description of say kind, and of any value now owned and in the use, possession and control of yourself and wife and its cash value? (Make itemized list) $600.00 in Land as above stated 12. What annual or monthly income or earnings of yourself and wife and the source derived have you? Nothing except a little farm labor 13. Payne of said State and County is hereby presented as a witness in support of the application of E.A. Adams for the pension provided by the Act of 1910, in said State. (I have included only questions with answers) 1. What is your name and where do you reside? W.N. Payne, Reynolds Ga P.O. 2. How long and since when you have known E.A. Adams, the applicant? Since 1861 3. Where does he now reside, and since when has he been a bona fide, continuing resident in this State and how do you know? Taylor Co Ga all his life. Have seen him here for fifty years or more. 4. When, where and in what Company and Regiment did E.A. Adams enlist during war from 1861 to 1865? (Give date and place) Co K Browns Militia Macon Ga 5. How did you obtain your information of this Service? Was in the same Company with him 6. How long within your personal knowledge did he perform actual military service with this Company and Regiment? 1864 July to April 1865 7. When and where was his Command surrendered or discharged? (give date and place) April 1865 at Macon at close of War 8. Were you personally present at the Surrender? Yes 9. Was the applicant personally present with his Command at surrender? Yes 10. When did he leave his Command? At Surrender, Where was his Command when he left it? Macon Ga, For what cause did he leave? Discharged, By whose authority did he leave? Payrolling Officer, How do you know all that you have stated to be true? I was present at the time of his Discharge 11. Was applicant captured as a prisoner? No W.N. Riley, Ordinary of Taylor County Affidavit of Two Freeholders State of Georgia Taylor County Personally before me comes W.R. Rodgers and C.M. Blair who on oath says that they are freeholders residing in said County and we know E.A. Adams the applicant or pension and we know the property that is now in the use, possession and control of himself and wife and of its cash value to wit: (Make list by items and value) 400 acres of land valued at $600.00 1. What property, if any, has been sold or given away by the applicant or his wife since 4 Nov 1908? (State it fully by items) None 2. When and to whom was it sold or given to? 3. What was the price paid or stated to be paid? 4. What relation is the party to the applicant? No relation whatever 5. Was the disposition of this property made in good faith and full values? or was it to obtain a pension? W.R. Rodgers C.M. Blair Sworn to and subscribed before me, this the 28th day of Oct. 1915 A.H. Riley, Ordinary of Taylor County Ordinary’s Certificate State of Georgia Taylor County I, A.H. Riley Ordinary of said County, certify that I know the applicant E.A. Adams for Pension is the person he represents himself to be and resides in said County. That I also know W.N. Payne the witness swearing to the service and W.R. Rogers and C.M. Blair who are freeholders, that they are all residents of said County and were duly sworn by me before signing the foregoing affidavit and they are all truthful and trustworthy and their statements are entitled to full faith and credit. That the tax returns of Taylor County shows that E.A. Adams and wife value for tax is in 1908 $600.00 for 1909 $600.00 for 1910 $600.00 for 1911 $600.00 for 1912 $600.00 for 1913 $600.00 Sworn under my hand and official seal of office this 28th day of October 1915 A.H. Riley Ordinary of Taylor County Georgia Taylor County In person appeared before me the undersigned, Z.P. Downs, who on oath says that, he is well acquainted with, E.A. Adams and that he knows that he enlisted in Company K Browns Militia, 9th Georgia, during the month of April 1864, at Macon, Georgia, and that he continued in the service until the close of the War in 1865. Deponent says that he was a member of Company K. 9th Georgia and was discharged at Macon, Georgia, at the close of the War. Z. P. Downs Sworn to and subscribed before me this 30th day of December 1915 A.H. Riley, Ordinary Georgia Taylor County I, A.H. Riley, Ordinary of Taylor County, do certify that I am well acquainted with Z.P. Downs, who made foregoing affidavit and that he is a man worthy of belief.
