F. Caldwell of said State and County, and after being duly sworn, on oath says that she desires to apply for a pension allowed under the Act of ____ 1910, and submit testimony to make out eh same; true answers makes to the following questions to wit: 1. What is your name, and where do you reside? M. F. Caldwell, Taylor County. 2. How long and since when have you been a continuing resident in the State of Georgia? 64 years, Since August 13th 1846. 3. When, where and to whom were you married? Dec 19th, 1865. P. C. Caldwell. 4. When and where and in what Company and Regiment did your husband enlist as a soldier in Confederate Army of Georgia Militia? Co. A, 4th Ga. Regt. Vols. Infantry 5. When and where did the Commands of your husband surrender or discharge from the army? April 9th, 1865, Appomattox C. H. Va. 6. Was your husband personally present at the time of the surrender or discharge from the army? Yes 7. If he was not present state clearly whre he was? Was present 8. Where was his Command when he left? Appomattox C. H. Va. a. For what cause did he leave his command? Surrender b. By whoses authority did he leave his Command? Military c. For how long was he granted leave of absence? ___ d. Caldwell the application for pensionl She is the person she represents herself to be and she is a bona fide continuing resident citizen of said County and was in the 4th Nov 1908......... That I also know S. A. Baldwin of Talbot County, the witness who swears to the service of husband and ....... who are freeholders. That all of them are now residents of said County and were duly sworn by me before signing the foregoing affidavite and that they all, are truthful, trustworthy, and their statements are entitled to full faith and credit. How long and since when have you known M. F. Caldwell applicant? Since 1865 3. How long and since when has she continuously reside in theis State? All her life 4. When and to whom was she married? 1865, P. C. Caldwell How do you know? Personally, I was there [neighbor] 5. How long and since when did you know Mrs. M. F. Caldwell her husband? From boyhood until his death 6. When and where did P. C. Caldwell die? In Sept. 1893 7. Were the Aplicant and her husband living together as man and wife at the date of his death? Yes 8. If not.... They were living together. 9. When, where, and in what Company and Regiment did P. C. Caldwell enlist? May 22nd, 1861, Talbotton, Ga., Co. A 4th Ga Regt. vol. Infantry 10. Were you a member of the same Company? I was 11. How long withing your personal knowledge did he perform actual military service with his company and regiment? From enlistment until surrender 12. When and where did his Comman surrender, and was discharged? April 9th 1865 Appomattox C. H. Va. 13. Were you personally present when... No If not? I was captured a Prisoner at Battle of Gettysburg, had been exchanged and Paroled & obtained a furlough for 30 days time had not expired when Surrender occured. 14. Was the husband of pallicant personally present at surrender? I don't know... I suppose he was there His record as a good soldier wannants me in believing he was there. He was in Battle when I was captured. 15. For what cause, if you know of your own knowledge was he prevented from returing to his Command? War at an end 16. What effort did he make to return... None.
